Gajendran Ganesan is a versatile Indian percussionist, primarily adept on the mridangam. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in vocal music, he felt the calling of the mridangam and took up training on the South Indian drum in earnest. Ganesan is a senior disciple of Guru Shri Hanumanthapuram R.J. Bhuvaragan. He has over 17 years of experience in the field of music and music for dance.
Ganesan accompanies carnatic and semi-classical vocalists, instrumentalists, as well as dancers of various styles including Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Mohiniattam and folk dances. He has his own Fusion Band, conducting programs for various occasions and functions. Ganesan is also a teacher of the art. His experience includes teaching at Kola Saraswathi Higher Secondary School (10 years), Papanasam Sivan Fine Arts Academy (4 years), and AVM Rajeswari Higher Secondary School (3 years).
Every year, Ganesan provides expert accompaniment to dance students undergoing their stage debuts both in India and on his tours abroad, thus demonstrating his great capacity for educating and encouraging aspiring artists, as well.
